Ikan Bakar Seri Menanti, Jalan Bellamy KL.
Not that we do not want to bring them for good food, but some time too many heads and mouths result nothing special.
So, one fine afternoon we two brother quietly drove to Sungai Besi, Jalan Bellamy (just beside Istana Negara) to have the best ikan bakar in... Istana Negara area, at least.
There is one row of stall all selling same thing, ikan bakar (satay kajang mentality), I am not sure which is the best, but seems like all share same quality with equally crowd.
The environment was nothing special and hot. I saw many office workers sat there with tie and sweating like water pouring on them. But they seems enjoy the grilled seafood very much in that condition. Funny as patrons were "grilled" under the zinc roof eating grilled fish.
The food? "Mou Tak Ding". For long I had never have such a good grilled seafood. Those stuffs were very well marinated with special source, finely grilled on hot plate and served together with special prepared chilli sauce. I voiced nothing during the course. My mouth was full of... sotong bakar.
Price? Value for what's inside my wallet.

Seafood in Asia Cafe
I go there on and off and when I have no idea what to eat. This time around, I tried the few BBQ fish stalls and tell you, the food not bad. No wonder many people go there to have those spicy seafood.
Other food? Not very impressive, I thought.

I don't think this "chicken fish" looks like chicken, but it certainly taste a little bit like chicken, especially the texture. Well cooked and presented.
Well, we had other food as well. This tomyam fried noodle was too salty and spicy. Not impressive.
The Vietnam chicken rice owner was from Segamat. Good cook.

Tian Yuen Seafood Porridge Steamboat
This was the first time I ate my steamboat using porridge as the base. It was very new and I could not imagine how to eat my food.
The waiter offered to help and he sieve the egg into the pot of porridge to make it smells fantastic.
We dumb in all those seafood and suddenly I realised that the porridge had become so sweet and tasty. Literally we were cooking seafood porridge!

After cooked, I am not sure I should finish the porridge or just take the stuff like I used to eat steamboat. All the goodness has been into the porridge!

Kwai Lam Seafood...Fantastic!
Sometimes this kind of unrealistic thought makes you miss out good things in life.
Well, let's look at below picture and see how I value few of the dishes.
See those crowd? I have no idea if they are the first batch or 3rd batch, but people kept coming in and the scene was just like a wedding dinner.
Picture taken too dark. But the crab was fantastic. Very meaty. Real fatty crab.
This fish is ordinary "ikan Tilapia". It is cheap and very common. But it was grilled just nice with perfect marinate.

This is the shop's favorite. Fried chicken wings. If come with beer, how nice?

East Seafood Village Special Steamboat... Really Special
I still could not understand why people like steamboat? I mean I have been having steamboat since I was very young. My family in Kuantan likes to have steamboat on every occasion, either we do it at house or have it at restaurant.
My mother prefer it to be made at house. she could prepare all those nice stuff which she loves and enjoy it all night long. She said it is easy to prepare and nice to eat. Sommore healthy.
For me, steamboat come with beer is the best things. But the heat and sweat with my crab red face after beer need some patient to handle it. If I would have it in some cold windy place like Cameron Highland, should that be better?
Most of the steamboat serve with fish cake, prawns, chicken, vegetables, eggs and noodle in soup or tomyam. You can't really say which shop serve the best. But the one below really special. I could not believe it when I saw those seafood on the plate. I stop my mind to ask for a beer when I smell the heavy alcoholic soup served.

Fresh crab, mussels, mushrooms, oyster, etc. Truly seafood steamboat.
All in a claypot with Chinese wine soup. Sweet and strong. You will love it if you like fresh seafood and alcohol.

Seafood Noodle, fantastic yet cheap... in Chemur.
That afternoon, he brought me to a small shop and we had his preferred seafood noodle. He told me to try it and see if that one could par with the one I mentioned.
It was no curry or tom yam style of seafood soup, but plain seafood stock with plenty of fresh stuffs inside. I was extremely impressed and finish my food until the last drop. When the bill came, my jaw dropped even wider. I kept quiet after that, because I finally understand what it means "there is always another moutain higher".
I revisited the place again recently (not easy to locate because it is just an ordinary shop outside).

A lot of people do not have the patient to wait for food served. I could understand that. It is not a pleasant experience for you sitting there, looking and smelling others wallap the delicious food. But, I am willing to wait for any great food, and I believe there are lots of other people sharing the same with me.
I need to wait for more than half an hour, with very little patrons that day (about 5 before us). Why? The sifu was so passionate about his serving that he cook the seafood noodle bowl by bowl (just like the one in Subang Jaya, pork noodle). He first fried the crab and other stuffs which need to be fried, then add stock and noodle. With such a great passion and consistency of cooking, I have no regret at all.

Oh! By the way, my seafood noodle only cost me RM3.50. I had half crab, mussels, fish meat, prawns, etc. No competition!

Seafood Beehun

As we all know, there should be food, good one, as long as there are human staying there. My friend took me to a small stall and we ordered seafood beehun. I thought nothing special. I had use to eat seafood beehun in Kuala Selangor and in Telok Gong. There are all fried seafood beehun, with crab and some clam or lala.
However, this one was steamed. The whole plate of beehun with crab, prawns, clams, lalas, etc. Steamed in a metal plate with ingredients such as ginger and asam. What's the difference? The beehun had taken up all the sweetness of the ingredients during steaming. We got very tasty steamed beehun. The seafood? Still fresh and taste because there were just nicely steamed.
Maybe the sifu was using very fresh seafood. Or there are other method cooking this food. It seems easy, but the result was great!
