Can we find good food in Summit USJ? Never thought so? You are not right!

There is one restaurant at the 2nd floor serving reasonable good foods. From Bak Kut Teh to curry mee, all prepared from a single kitchen.

Summit has little to shop, but if you stay around there, why not find a day for movie (less people to fight for your sit) and have some interesting hawker food in a shop in a shopping mall?

I always believe good curry noodle should serve with steam white chicken. This shop gives me the entire drum stick!

"Gon Lou Horfan" with mushroom chicken. One of my favourite there. It tasted so thick and the "Horfan" as smooth as it was from Ipoh.

Well, this is the shop. Remember it!


Dong Zhi... Winter Solstice Celebration

The Winter Solstice Festival (Chinese: 冬至; Pinyin: dōng zhì; "The Extreme of Winter") is one of the most important festivals celebrated by the Chinese and other East Asians during the dongzhi solar term on or around December 21 when sunshine is weakest and daylight shortest; i.e., on the first day of the dongzhi solar term The origins of this festival can be traced back to the Yin and Yang philosophy of balance and harmony in the cosmos. After this celebration, there will be days with longer daylight hours and therefore an increase in positive energy flowing in. The philosophical significance of this is symbolized by the I Ching hexagram (復, "Returning"). Traditionally, the Dongzhi Festival is also a time for the family to get together. One activity that occurs during these get togethers (especially in the southern parts of China and in Chinese communities overseas) is the making and eating of Tangyuan (湯圓, as pronounced in Cantonese; Mandarin Pinyin: Tāng Yuán) or balls of glutinuous rice, which symbolize reunion. Tangyuan are made of glutinuous rice flour and sometimes brightly coloured. Every one in the family receives at least one large Tang Yuan and several small ones. The flour balls may be plain or stuffed. They are cooked in a sweet soup or savoury broth with both the ball and the soup/broth served in one bowl.

Celebrating DongZhi and may the winter as sweet and lively as these TangYuan.

Seafood in Asia Cafe

Asia Cafe in Subang offer some very nice foods and very pretty chic. In Good Food. Good Life.: The Ultimate Clay Pot Chicken Rice, I thought the stall offer fantastic clay pot chicken rice (of course after that I found few more stalls selling far more better rice).

I go there on and off and when I have no idea what to eat. This time around, I tried the few BBQ fish stalls and tell you, the food not bad. No wonder many people go there to have those spicy seafood.

Other food? Not very impressive, I thought.

"Kam Heong Lala" was good. But I more prefer the one in Puchong food court.

I don't think this "chicken fish" looks like chicken, but it certainly taste a little bit like chicken, especially the texture. Well cooked and presented.

Well, we had other food as well. This tomyam fried noodle was too salty and spicy. Not impressive.

The Vietnam chicken rice owner was from Segamat. Good cook.


My Kopitiam... not that bad.

Another "kopitiam" popped up in Pusat Bandar Puchong, at shops opposite Tesco Puchong. I don't feel good initially. Too many "kopitiam" around lately and I think this has been saturated and people starting to get fatigue on it. At least I am.

This also verified again that nowadays ideas, products, concepts can be duplicated or "reverse engineered" rapidly and efficiently. Anything can be tap, modified and replaced in a split second.

I never thought to give this My Kopitiam a try but because of the rain and spare time waiting for somebody that night, I made a choice to hop in and have a look (more or less also because of the banner showing RM0.99 per cuppa coffee).

Very well presented noodle with big mushrooms! Taste shows the owner does know how to cook.

99 cents per cup of coffee. Expensive if you compare with our traditional "ko pi tiam", but cheap if the environment has been upgraded.


Haeun Khon revisited.

Previously blog about this famous Korean restaurant, Haeun Khon in Amcorp Mall. It is really good that after trying few other Korean stalls, I still think it offer the most value for money.

Unique decorations... I finally found the lamp selling in a shopping mall. My room will have new feel very soon!

Kimchi soup... spicy and tasty.

I still prefer this lamb BBQ. Very well prepared.


Tian Yuen Seafood Porridge Steamboat

Steamboat is a very popular type of food. It is easy to prepare, healthy to eat (depends on what you put into the soup) and you can DIY your food (pretend to be a cook?).

This was the first time I ate my steamboat using porridge as the base. It was very new and I could not imagine how to eat my food.

The waiter offered to help and he sieve the egg into the pot of porridge to make it smells fantastic.

We dumb in all those seafood and suddenly I realised that the porridge had become so sweet and tasty. Literally we were cooking seafood porridge!

Fresh seafood and other vegetables make you feel healthy.

After cooked, I am not sure I should finish the porridge or just take the stuff like I used to eat steamboat. All the goodness has been into the porridge!


Da Mi at Sungai Long... nice Taiwan food

The restaurent I am going to introduce seems pretty famous. I found some newspaper cutting in their store.

It is situated at the commercial center in Bandar Sungai Long, a half shop sharing with Sports Toto.

The environment was very peaceful. Lite music, soft decoration and very cheerful feeling. The food served was something special.

I had a crispy pork noodle soup. The soup was very "healthy" as it was with lots of vegetables.

This crispy pork chop taste as good as it looks.

Another dish we ate, the "ma lak" noodle soup. Basically it was the previous soup noodle added with very spicy chilli powder. Wow!

I had a plate of toufu as my side dish. Yummy!

Girls must like this pot of tea very much. It is rose milk tea. I kind of find it strange. I thought rose is for decoration, or gift to pretty girl. Not to be eaten?

My "cham" ice was as good and unique as the glass it looks.


Penang food... nice and cheap!

Everybody knows that Penang full of good food. Even when you simply sit on a road side store you probably might find surprises.

I used to travel to Penang quite often for work. Friends took me to some food which make me want it again and again. I wonder if you know these foods?

The first food that inspired me when I first enter Penang 5 years ago was this mamak restaurant call Hameed Soup. It is located at Penang Road, few blocks away from Cititel.

People sit along the corridors and soups served as you request.

This is my favourite soup, soup kambing. I heard this is the best in Penang. I never agreed. I thought it is the best in Malaysia!


Gurney Drive serve various local specialty for tourist. I don't think the food there is the best in that island. But I can have almost everything there.

Pasembur. I thought it is just another variance of rojak?

Pasembur is rojak with deep fried seafood, sausage, meatballs, etc. I love fried sotong rojak.

Never miss my Penang laksa every time I touch the island.


This stall locate just opposite of the ferry jetty, in Penang island. It opens in the evening. Simple stall, serving great tea.

When I look at that pot of boiling ginger soup I immediately realise what a perfect cup I will have that day.

This is the best teh halia I had ever have so far. And it is cheap!


Big Plate Restaurent at Subang Permai... Wow!

When I heard about Big Plate Restaurant, I thought it is just like Papa Chop & Mama Grill, cheap western food that serve cheap. Furthermore, my friend told me that the price is quite reasonable. This strengthen my perception that it is cheap and serve tonnes of food to value your stomach.

We face no difficult to reach Subang Permai. However, it took us a while to find the restaurant as the sign was not bright and big enough.

Simple interial decoration with very deem lights double confirmed my previous thought. But, I nearly dropped my eye when I saw the menu. The price was about 50% higher than PapaMama. I thought somebody must have recommended wrongly and I was planning to write a negative review.

Sometimes man makes decision too fast. Or maybe when we are expecting the worst while receiving good things, it end up we are much appreciated the results.

Food served was fantastic. Simple decoration, low cost environment and all other cost cutting contributed directly to the main focus, the food. Food served were well decorated, well presentation, and taste even better than some very high end restaurants. The main things is, those plates were huge, and they are full!

Good food in very large portion, Big Plate, ain't kidding.

Restaurant looks simple and hiding in remote place. Crowd come from words of mouth.

Mushroom soup served in XXL size bun. Enough for 2 persons.

Tomato soup was better than mushroom soup. Equally large.

My sis ordered a sandwich plate, thought to have a light meal. But look at those tuna and the bread and all those chips, I can't believe it cost us only RM7.

Grill ikan tenggiri, local fish cooked with western style. Well done for the cook to married both local and west. You got to eat it to know it.

Pasta also very yummy. The greens was different from the Ayam Shah Alam. This serve with kiwi and dragon fruits.

Grilled chicken (Ayam Shah Alam) came with half chicken plus well decorated salad. All nicely cook and I could not resists to finish it all.


Ah Seng Bak Kut Teh... in Kampung Subang

I previously posted few Bak Kut Teh shops such as Grandpa Bak Kut Teh or Vege Bak Kut Teh.
As a typical Malaysian chinaman, you can guess that I love Bak Kut Teh just like those "kuli" in the old days at Port Klang. Every time when I heard there is good one, sure I will find my way there.

Good food or bad food is very subjective to the patrons. It even more particular for Bak Kut Teh as we are all various from our belove taste of soup. Some of us like it clear and light (just like me). But some of us like it thick and full of flavours. Thus, we always have contradict opinion regarding to the best Bak Kut Teh in town. This variant of taste also causing Bak Kut Teh stalls mushrooming with each has its unique characteristic.

Ah Seng Bak Kut Teh, which is located at Subang Permai, at the junction of Monterez Golf Club, near Kampung Subang serves some of the best food in town.

I love the soup which is not too thick that I can drink by itself. Those meat was just nicely cooked that not too tough, neither too soft. Just tender enough for me to bite.

Besides Bak Kut Teh, I guess their chicken feet is also one of the best I ever had. Never get fool by the appearance. Before I put those delicacy in my mouth, I thought I am going to have a very hard, tough meat, which might cause goose bump on me. I did had goose bump, but it was because the food was too delicious.

Normal vegetable? Maybe. But I think I need to inform you that those leaves never fry in the wok. There were merely soak in hot water and shower with oyster sauce. I do not know how will you feel. But for me, after those heavy meaty food, I felt less guilty by eating those green leaves.


Puchong Yong Tau Fu... Simply the Best

Is Ampang YongTauFu the most famous in Malaysia? I believe so. And I believe most of the people thought so as well. However, I also heard Serdang YongTauFu pretty nice, and Puchong has the finest YongTauFu.

The shop I am going to introduce here locate in Kampung Bahru Puchong and it is call Puchong Yong Tau Fu. It serve the best fish cake in town, at least from my point of view.

I came from the East Cost of Malaysia. The place where we eat keropok lekuk more than potato chips. Our taste for fish food is difference. I love fish cake or fish crackers with strong fish taste. I thought fish cake without the taste of fish means nothing. So, a good fish ball cannot be judged by its texture and appearance only. If you only want a springy ball, why choose fish ball? Squid ball also can right?

The fish cake serve in this Puchong Yong Tau Fu taste fishy, feel fishy and I could feel the real fish texture. I have no problem to wait for almost an hour for my serving. It worth every minutes of waiting.

The stall locate opposite a Chinese primary school, at Puchong Chinese village. Area near Tractor Malaysia and DHL.

See the crowd waiting patiently and I have no complain to wait for my turn at all.

Vegetables served fresh. You pick the raw one in the basket and they will stuff it immediately before cook. Freshly prepared food, worth the wait?

Each table's TongTauFu were stuff at site and cook separately and immediately.

Deep fried egg plant and FuJuk.

This is my favourite. Fish ball soup. I still can not find a proper word to describe it.
